Straight outta the Destiny City (to the unschooled, that's Tacoma, WA) comes this moody funk gem on the Valane label from the regionally popular band Jonah's Whale. They were a force in the both the Tacoma and the Kona, Hawaii music scenes for a time until finally disbanding in the early nineties. I've had the pleasure and honor of befriending and actually gigging with a few of the founding members of Jonah's Whale, those being Billy Barner (drums), who happens to have a beautiful website with an archive of cool old pics of Jonah's Whale here, Mike "Uncle Funky" Jones (keyboards), the man is a monster on the keys, and Michael "Stubbs" Stubblefield (bass), who I used to jam with a lot at the now-defunct Cole's Oasis in nearby Ruston, WA when I was a snot-nosed punk. I picked this 45 up from my friend Jeff's record store and couldn't believe my eyes! I'd never seen a Jonah's Whale release in all my digging days, and haven't seen another copy since. Now you all can enjoy "Feelin' Loose" (which later became "Gettin' Loose" according to Billy Barner), because it makes you tuff! Now, if you don't mind, click on the label and let that Tacoma funk loose!
